Open Source Crypto Wallets Now Support GridPlus, and Crypto.com Now Supports MATIC, USDC, and DAIPay
Cold storage competitor GridPlus has said it would “open source” the firmware of its cryptocurrency wallets in reaction to criticism of Ledger’s controversial move to allow private keys to be “recovered” from its hardware.
On May 17, 2023, GridPlus tweeted to its 17,500 followers that the firmware for all of their crypto devices would be made available for download in the third quarter of this year in order to promote transparency.
In a follow-up remark, GridPlus stated that “this week’s hardware wallet discussions exposed trust assumptions taken for granted.”
MATIC, USDC, and DAIPay Support Added To Crypto.com
Singaporean crypto exchange, crypto.com has updated its decentralised finance (DeFi) wallet service, adding three new coins and supporting more nations for fiat-to-crypto transactions.
The business announced the addition of Polygon, USD Coin, and Dai to Crypto.com Pay, a fiat-to-crypto on-ramp service that enables the purchase of cryptocurrencies using a credit or debit card, in a blog post on May 16, 2023.
The three new tokens are the only ones now supported by Pay, along with Bitcoin, Ether, and Crypto.com’s native CRO.
Now, CRO can be bought on the Cronos Blockchain of Crypto.com, or the Ethereum network. The post states that support for more tokens “will be added soon.”
Additionally, Crypto.com announced Pay support for new regions, bringing the total number of nations that may use the service to buy cryptocurrency directly from the company’s DeFi wallet app to 108.
Miami Blockchain Folk Hero Secures $5M For Community Tokenisation
The Dargent Group, a private equity business, announced on May 17, 2023 that it would be contributing $5 million to the Captain Haiti Foundation, a 4947(a) (1) charity trust.
The fund will be used for helping residents to secure affordable housing through Blockchain initiatives.
The alliance will use Blockchain technologies to “combat Miami’s housing crisis and the ongoing gentrification of the Haitian community [in Miami].” The fund will be devoted to assisting citizens in
the Little Haiti neighbourhood of Miami to obtain land, family residences, and commercial real estate, according to Nandy Martin, also known as Captain Haiti and the head of the organisation.
“By achieving just 5 per cent of Wynwood’s Wall success, our Little Haiti Walls initiative could attract 150,000 tourists annually, stimulating local businesses and amplifying cultural exchange,” it said.
